On Wednesday 16th November 2010,the Comenius partners project of Carlos V school visited our school to change impressions about our projects.
First, they were received in the hall by Eli and Mª Jesús,visiting the different buildings ,later we talked about our projects.In Carlos V the members of the project are from Sweden,England and France . We enjoyed so much the visit because they were very kind to pupils, staffs...Both projects are the ones in La Línea
We hope they enjoyed their visit too.

Dear friends from Great Britain, Poland, and Turkey, welcome!. This is finally a dream come true: to be able to meet, communicate, and see each other in person without the need for the wonderful support of technology. You have come to the most southern part of Europe, our common continent. A thin line of water separates us from our African brothers and sisters. We set the limits. Who could imagine that we would meet today in this Salesian school in La Línea de la Concepción: European brothers from the north -Poland-, south -Spain-, east -Turkey-, and west -Great Britain-?. Two days of hard work await us -as promised by Miss Maria Jesus and her team-, in which we will plan in detail our meetings for the following two years. But we will also have some time to enjoy this region, its people, traditions, weather, food.... enjoy it, Spain is worthy!

You have come to a Salesian school. This is a special school. La Línea de la Concepción city cannot be understood without the beneficial influence of the Salesian priests over their population during the last fifty years. Our students also show our special profile: they are happy, welcoming, and delightful individuals. We pay special attention to human interaction, and this differentiates us from the school offer in the city. We want to share it with you: our good will and warm friendship.

I must confess that my oral English is not as good as this written blurb, which I wrote with help. I hope that we will be able to communicate in English as well as in Spanish. I would be happy if we could help you discover the beauty of this language, which is the second more widely spoken in the world. This is the language of Cervantes, Galdós, and Nobel prize Mario Vargas Llosa. Maybe some of you will decide to enroll in a Spanish class at the Cervantes Institute after your stay.

Without further due, I wholeheartedly welcome you to this city and this school!

Queridos amigos que venís a esta tierra, desde el Reino Unido, Polonia y Turquía.

Al fin comienza a hacerse realidad un sueño que todos deseábamos: poder encontrarnos y vernos las caras, más allá del milagro que supone estar interconectados gracias a la Red y a las comunicaciones.

Venís al extremo más al sur de nuestro común continente europeo. Allá, una estrecha franja de agua nos separa de los hermanos africanos. Los límites los ponemos nosotros mismos. ¿Quién nos iba a decir que hoy, en este colegio salesiano de La Línea de la Concepción, nos íbamos a reunir hermanos europeos del norte –Polonia–, del sur –España–, del este –Turquía– y del oeste – Reino Unido–?

Serán dos días de intenso trabajo –la srta. María Jesús y su equipo así me lo han prometido– para diseñar con todo lujo de detalles nuestros futuros encuentros a lo largo de los dos próximos años. Pero también habrá tiempo para conocer este pequeño rinconcito de España, sus gentes, sus costumbres, su clima, su gastronomía… Disfrutad: España merece la pena.

Y venís a un colegio salesiano. No es un colegio cualquiera. La ciudad de La Línea no se entendería sin el benéfico influjo que han ejercido estos religiosos sobre sus gentes durante los últimos cincuenta años. Nuestros alumnos también llevan la “marca de la casa”: alegría, cercanía, hospitalidad, saber estar… Nuestro estilo de relaciones humanas es también característico, y nos distingue entre el resto de la oferta educativa de esta ciudad. Deseamos que también os llevéis esto de nosotros: nuestra cercanía, afecto y familiaridad.

Termino con una sincera confesión: mi inglés oral no será tan fluido como este sencillo discurso. Las circunstancias obligaban a buscar asesoramiento. Espero que, además de comunicarnos en inglés, podamos ayudaros a descubrir la belleza de la segunda lengua más hablada en el mundo, la de Cervantes, Galdós o el nobel Mario Vargas Llosa. ¿Quién sabe si alguno de vosotros se anima a matricularse en clase de castellano, en el Instituto Cervantes?

No os canso más. Con el corazón en la mano, ¡bienvenidos a esta ciudad y a éste, que desde hoy es también vuestro colegio!

What is "Around the sea"?

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project Around the sea brings together nature, sports and culture. It is an investigation on matters that are related to the Mediterranean Sea , Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Gibraltar.The students can learn different aspects of: History and Geography, Science, Physics Education, Classical culture, Environmental education.
They do several sea-related activities to practise the same language.There will be opportunities for children to develop creative skills about the seas. Using ICT to communicate, email and video recording equipment where relevant.
It is a way of learning about these famous seas that join to all the participants countries.
